Alex Minear takes it all

Written by Starlynk Bermuda at 19:56 3/8-2016

What a stunning debut for Alex Minear! Manager Martijn Kleuskens appeared flabbergasted after the King Stage of the Kangaroo Tour.. Alex Minear appeared on the podium! And not once to collect the YC jersey as we secretly hoped beforehand, but also for the stage win AND the GC win! Wait, what?!

Flashback to the start of the tour. Starlynk Bermuda came down under to try and get some stage results and try to do as well as possible in YC. In the opening prologue Montgomery Pribble and Alex Minear already showed this could be a memorable tour by scoring a 5th and 2nd place respectively, right between those incredible time triallers of jmtoler. All looked extremely well, but we learned from experience that it isn't over before the fat lady sings (Monty crashed out of GC contention in his first Kangaroo Tour).

And surely, the second stage didn't go as planned. Minear had an off day, only ending 4th in the stage, while his biggest competitor for YC won the stage! We were starting to get some doubts then, but then the glorious stage 3 happened where Alex Minear won and Monty ended up in second place! A feat that hasn't been shown very often in a grand tour, if ever!

From there on out it was one magnificent ride where Starlynk Bermuda dominated the entire Kangaroo Tour and Alex Minear swept up the remaining stage wins as if it meant nothing to him. The 22-years old Bermudan won the Kangaroo Tour by a margin of 31 seconds; by far the largest win margin ever in Australia! The only small downside was that Monty lost his podium spot in the last stage due to an off day, but hey, nobody's going to complain about that!

GC Win, YC Win, additional 4th in GC, 3 stage wins, 2 second places, 1 4th place and 1 5th place. We couldn't be happier! :-D
